Preparing ICompass with a map

Combining ICompass with a map will enhance your ability navigate your terrain. You may need to know where you are on the map so that you can set the correct declination otherwise your map will not be orientated correctly. To prepare your map perform the following steps:

Step 1
Try to lay the map down on a flat dry surface.
Step 2
Press the Start menu item in the menu bar.

Step 6
Hold the smart device flat and hover it above the map. Turn the compass until the needle is pointing to N or North and and then look for a cardinal marking of N or North on your map and rotate the map to match the North on the compass. The grid lines rendered in ICompass should align with the grid lines of the map. The map is now in alignment with the orientation of the compass. If the map displays any nearby landmarks then you should now be able to see them in relation to where the map shows them.
